What can counselling help with?

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, trauma, burnout or major life changes. You may also simply want a safe space to better understand yourself.

Counselling offers an opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings in a confidential, supportive and non-judgemental environment at a pace that feels right for you.

Do you offer counselling in person or online?

Yes.

I offer counselling in person from my practice in Bispham, Blackpool, and online via Zoom for clients across the UK.

During our initial consultation, we can discuss which option is most suitable for you.

How long are counselling sessions?

Each counselling session lasts 50 minutes.

I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, and together we will discuss what feels most appropriate for your needs.

Where possible, I encourage clients to attend weekly at a regular time, as this helps to build consistency and supports the therapeutic process.

What happens during the first session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another.

We'll go through the Counselling Agreement together, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. We'll also explore what has brought you to counselling, discuss what you hope to gain from therapy, whether you have any specific goals, and begin to consider how we can work together in a way that best meets your needs.

There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes.

I offer a free 15-minute telephone or online consultation. This gives us the opportunity to discuss what you're looking for, answer any questions you may have and see whether we feel we're a good fit to work together.

There is no obligation to continue after the consultation.

What is your approach to counselling?

I work integratively, tailoring counselling to your individual needs rather than following one fixed approach.

My practice is person-centred, trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQ+ inclusive. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic understanding, mindfulness and somatic awareness, depending on what feels most helpful for you.

Do you work with neurodivergent clients?

Yes.

Alongside being a qualified counsellor, I am also a neurodiversity coach.

I provide a supportive, affirming environment for autistic adults, ADHDers and people exploring or adjusting to a neurodivergent identity. My aim is to adapt therapy to suit you, rather than expecting you to fit a particular way of working.

How much does counselling cost?

Counselling sessions are £50 per 50-minute session.

Your first session is payable in advance to confirm your booking. Ongoing sessions are paid securely using the payment method you provide.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice.

If less than 24 hours' notice is given, 50% of the session fee will be charged.

If you arrive late for your appointment, I may not be able to extend the session, as this could affect other clients.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes.

Everything you share with me is treated as confidential.

There are, however, a small number of situations where I may need to share information, such as where there is a serious risk of harm, safeguarding concerns, or where I am legally required to do so.

I will always aim to discuss this with you first where it is appropriate and safe to do so.

Where is your counselling practice?

My counselling practice is located at:

Office 10
335 Red Bank Road
Bispham
Blackpool
FY2 0HJ

There is free parking available in Bispham Village Car Park.

The counselling room is on the second floor and is accessed by two flights of stairs. Unfortunately, there is no lift or wheelchair access.

If this is your first visit, I will meet you at the entrance to the building (next to Sayers) and show you to the counselling room.

What if I need to contact you between sessions?

I work by appointment only.

If you need to contact me between sessions, you are welcome to email or text me during my working hours. I will respond as soon as I reasonably can, although there may occasionally be a delay.

Please note that I do not provide a crisis or emergency support service. If you require urgent help, please contact your GP, NHS 111, the emergency services, or the Samaritans on 116 123.

Do you offer mindfulness, yoga or courses?

Yes.

Alongside counselling, I also offer mindfulness sessions, occasional therapeutic yoga sessions, and wellbeing workshops. I am developing a range of online courses and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, which will be added to the website as they become available.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book a free consultation or a counselling appointment through my website or by contacting me directly by email or telephone.

If you're unsure whether counselling is right for you, you're very welcome to get in touch to discuss how I may be able to help.
