Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of bringing kind, non-judgmental awareness to the present moment to your thoughts, sensations, emotions, and surroundings. At its heart, it’s about learning to meet yourself and your experience with greater clarity, compassion, and calm.

The modern, evidence-based approach to mindfulness was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, who created the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program in the late 1970s. While mindfulness has deep roots in Buddhist traditions, the way it’s taught today in clinical and therapeutic settings is completely secular and accessible to people of all backgrounds and belief systems.

Why Mindfulness Matters

Stress is widely recognised as a major contributor to a range of mental and physical health problems. Mindfulness helps people develop the skills to respond to stress more effectively, rather than becoming overwhelmed or reactive.

Some of the proven benefits of mindfulness include:

  • Reduced anxiety and depressive symptoms

  • Better sleep and rest

  • Support in managing chronic pain

  • Greater emotional regulation

  • Increased focus, presence, and self-awareness

  • A deeper sense of resilience and well-being

Mindfulness doesn’t require you to empty your mind or “get it right”; it’s about noticing, gently, and returning again and again to the present moment, just as it is.

What I Offer

I offer 8-week mindfulness courses in:

An Inclusive Approach

My teaching is grounded in a trauma-sensitive and inclusive approach. I welcome people of all identities and life experiences, and I aim to create a space where you feel safe to explore your own relationship with awareness, emotion, and the body.
